IQ Score Chart: What Is a Good, Average or High IQ?

Most modern IQ tests are designed so the average score is 100, with a standard deviation of 15. Use the table below as a general guide. Labels vary a little between tests, and a score is always an estimate rather than an exact measurement.

What is a good IQ score?

Any score between 90 and 110 is considered average, and about half of all people fall there. A score above 110 is above average, and a score of 130 or higher puts a person in roughly the top two percent. There is no "bad" IQ in terms of a person's worth. Scores describe performance on a specific kind of test, not a person's value.

How to read your result on our test

Our practice test gives an estimated score from 70 to about 135 based on how many of the 20 questions you answered correctly. Because it is short and not professionally standardized, treat the number as a fun benchmark. If you want to improve next time, review the answer explanations and try the tips in our brain training guide.

Famous myths about high IQ
